Happy New Year to you and your cherished ones! 🎉 Today, as I scrolled through social media, I noticed a common sentiment: ‘Good riddance 2023’ or ‘Glad to see the back of you 2023.’ I get it; it was a tough year for many, including myself. Truth be told, it was one of my toughest years. Yet, I’m mindful of the power in my words. So, instead, let me say, ‘Thank you 2023 for the lessons you taught me! Hello 2024, nice to meet you!’
For those familiar with my journey, I’m a singer/songwriter, and my debut album ‘BLANK CANVAS’ emerged from the depths of pain and trauma in 2017. But, let’s not dwell on that for now. Through my ‘dark night of the soul,’ I’ve learned that it’s all about how we perceive every experience. Our traumas, as painful as they are, serve a purpose in shaping our resilience, a topic I’ll delve into in future blogs and on my YouTube channel.
Your experiences, too, have a purpose—they’ve brought us to this very moment. It might not be where we envisioned, but being alive today is a precious gift, regardless of our circumstances. Positivity can be found wherever we are. I’m blessed to now call Tuscany home, a dream realized after navigating some dark episodes.
Do I have all the answers? Is my life a perpetual bliss? A resounding ‘NO.’ Life, as my second album ‘LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION!’ aptly titled, is a constant roller-coaster. Slow climbs, fast descents, flat stretches, breakdowns, breathtaking scenery, wrong turns, but also beautiful moments filled with rock music in the sunshine—all part of the ride.
Today, though not easy, I find solace in acknowledging my emotions. Celebratory occasions are a unique challenge for me, as they echo the absence of my parents. Spending New Year’s Day alone, a choice I made for the first time, signifies my personal growth. It’s a testament to how far I’ve come, embracing and enjoying my own company.
This morning was tough, but I allowed myself to feel the emotions. A few tears, a heartfelt chat with my parents, and then a release. It’s authentic, raw, and a reminder of the importance of not burying our feelings. I’ve learned this the hard way.
I don’t claim to have all the answers, nor do I intend to sell you a course or self-help book. This year, I’m committing to sharing my full story through weekly blogs and detailed YouTube vlogs, filmed against the picturesque backdrop of Tuscany with my new gimbal.
